An employee who is on furlough or leave of absence (e.g., due to the COVID-19 pandemic) is considered to be employed as long as the employee is still receiving pay from the employer.

 

The retention credit is available for wages paid between March 13, 2020 and December 31, 2020. Qualified wages paid after December 31, 2020 do not count towards the credit.
